Changing the broken LCD on a Jenn-air WW30430P oven
4I recently decided to repair the broken LCD screen on my girlfriends Jenn-Air
double built in wall oven.
After doing some research on line I decided it was an easy repair and shouldn’t take too long. First, of course, I had to order the part. I found the part number 71001872 at Appliance Zone for $120 to be the cheapest on line and it arrived within a few days. The repair is a no brainer. There are 3 screws on the bottom of the face that are visible with the top oven door open. Once they are removed the face must slide up 6″ to come off the guides that hold it in place. When you remove it you will notice 2 sets of cables on the back that fasten into the clock logic board.
They simply pull off then you can set the face down on a table with a towel under it. Once you have it set down, make sure you remove the ribbon cable that powers the buttons in front. To do this look closely at the side edges of the ribbon cable adapter and you will notice to small notched brackets coming up and pointing outwards. Using your fingernails simply pull these up and the ribbon cable will release. Then, there are 4- 1/4″ SAE sheet metal screws holding the clock logic board in place.
Using a ratchet or similar tool unscrew the 4 screws. Re-installation is the opposite. Total time for me was 15minutes. Money saved from hiring a pro at least $200.

Just replaced the clock/display on our 30430P for the second time. First time was back in 2004, about a year after we first installed it. The replacement lasted until recently, although it started getting dimmer a year or two ago. The reason I’m commenting is that I don’t believe the replacement of the entire circuit board & display is required. Chances are, the fluorescent display is fine in these instances, and it may be the capacitor in the circuit that drives the display. This is apparently a problem on other Jenn Air / Maytag display units, and the part would be much cheaper. If anyone reads this and has done this successfully, maybe you could post a short note. Thanks.
Well, I just tested this theory — replacing the capacitor (C3) — and the old display is working again! Couldn’t find a 68uF cap, so substituted a 100uF cap, and it works just fine. Cost: $1.59. So, the new clock/display circuit board that I thought I needed is now in a box, put away until it’s actually needed.
Rick,
Thanks for the comment. I was just researching this same issue with mine. So are you saying the only part that you needed was the 100uF cap? Where did you get it and how hard was it to install? I don’t have the manual for the oven.
I just replaced with a 100uF35V cap. 10 minutes work and came right up. The part was $1.35 at Radio Shack.
Thanks Rick! Saved $200.
